Hi Friends and Family-

Thank you for visiting my page and considering donating to this amazing organization. You all know Sarah's story & we are incredibly blessed that she is doing as great as she is and starting middle school. But as many of you know, this can all change in a blink of an eye. We could go back to the roller coaster days in an instant like so many families. And then there is SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), this threat is real and not talked about very often. One in 26 Americans will develop Epilepsy & in some cases seizures can be fatal. Danny Did organization is based in Chicago and is helping families, from across the world, like ours learn more about SUDEP, stay on top of the latest seizure detection or prediction devices, and help to provide those products to those families in need the most. Want to learn more about Danny Did Foundation visit www.dannydid.org or read info below.

This year marks my second undertaking of the Chicago Marathon. I have to admit this one has kicked my butt. After a major running injury on Mother's Day, I really thought that I would not be able to run, which is why I did not set up my fundraising page. But quitting is not really an option for a runner or a child with Epilepsy. If there is one thing I have learned from Sarah, is that you just have to keep trying and have fun while doing it. So, after some intense PT & acupuncture, I am happy to say that I am back to training. I am honored to be running for a second time in support of the Danny Did Foundation which helps families just like ours living with Epilepsy.

Please consider donating to my cause as it is near and dear to my family. Any amount helps me achieve my goal of raising $1000. My training plan is cutting it close to the actual race day – Last year I was on a 20-week plan and this year it is 12 (eek!). I still have pain so, I am a little slower than last time (which is a bummer) but I am focusing on one run at a time to build my endurance. Say a prayer I make it to the race and then to the finish line. And if you are so inclined I would love to see you on the sidelines cheering on the runner.

About Danny Did Foundation

Founded by Chicago parents Mike and Mariann Stanton in 2010 after the sudden death of their four-year-old son Danny, the Danny Did Foundation's primary mission is to prevent deaths caused by seizures. The Foundation advances public awareness of epilepsy and Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), strives to improve communication about SUDEP between medical professionals and families impacted by seizures, and advocates for the mainstream acceptance and use of seizure detection and prediction devices that may assist in preventing seizure-related deaths.

Epilepsy affects nearly 3 million people in the United States and 65 million people worldwide. One in 26 Americans will develop epilepsy during their lifetime. But what few people understand, including many people impacted by the disorder, is that seizures can be fatal. More people die as a result of seizures than from fires and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) combined. The causes of death can vary and include drowning, other accidents and status epilepticus (prolonged seizures). In addition, thousands of deaths occur annually from SUDEP, a fact that is little known and too rarely addressed in public and in medical circles. The name of the Danny Did Foundation originates from the last line of Danny Stanton's obituary, written by his dad: "Please go and enjoy your life. Danny did."
