Hello, my name is Alex Rich. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page to support The Danny Did Foundation in the 2018 Chicago Marathon.

This is my first marathon, and I could not be more thrilled to be running for such an amazing foundation. When I met my wife and first visited her in Chicago, I was introduced to Danny Did. My wife grew up on the same block as the Stanton family, and whenever I would go for a run around the neighborhood I would see "Danny Did" bumper stickers on almost every car in the neighborhood and the honorary street sign. When I asked my wife what the Danny Did Foundation was, she explained that Danny Stanton, the son of Mike and Mariann, passed away suddenly in 2009 and his parents setup a foundation to raise awareness of epilepsy and Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). She said that Danny was a not to be underestimated 4-year old, had a captivating smile and demanding presence, especially when surrounded by all the neighborhood kids. A testament to the Stanton family, she said Danny possessed an unmatched kindness.

It has always been on my bucket list to run a marathon, yet in the past, the concept for why I was running was usually for myself. After watching the 2017 Chicago Marathon, I knew I had to sign up for the 2018 Chicago Marathon. When registration opened up, the thought in my head was not that I was going to run for myself but who I was going to run for. This was quickly answered when my mother-in-law sent me a link on Facebook to register to run with Team Danny Did. I went home and registered. I could not be more honored to run with a group of people in support of an amazing cause, dedicated to an extraordinary boy.
