Hey, everyone! I am running the Chicago Marathon this year for a cool charity called the Danny Did Foundation- an organization focused on ending deaths through epileptic seizures. Danny was a four-year old who loved life until he died during a seizure. Their motto is: "Please go and enjoy your life. Danny did."

As you may know, my family lived with this fear when my sister suffered from childhood epilepsy. We we so fortunate that she only suffered from petit mal seizures but there was always the worry that she would zone out during a critical moment (crossing the street on her bike, etc.). While she recovered, not every child does.

The Danny Did Foundation works toward its mission to prevent deaths caused by seizures with the following main goals in mind:

  • advance public awareness of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP)
  • enhance the SUDEP communication model between medical professionals and families afflicted by seizures
  • mainstream seizure detection and prediction devices that may assist in preventing seizure-related deaths

If you find this to be a worthy mission and you have some change to throw their way, please click below to sponsor me as I run 26.2 Miles. Danny didn't, but I suspect he would have. :)
